Lim Byung-Woo

Choi Ick-Soo
Abstract
Ectopic nasal tooth is rarely reported and can be detected in various locations. Clinically this tooth is seen as a white mass surrounded by granulation tissue. However in this case, the mass was seen as hyperemic and the mass was covered by mucosa. Mostly single ectopic nasal tooth was observed but some reported multiple ectopic nasal tooth. (In this case there was one more supernumerary tooth at the incisor area with single ectopic nasal tooth) Symptoms include rhinorrhea, epistaxis, nasal pain and so on. Traumatic factor, developmental factor, infection, hereditary factor are related to ectopic nasal tooth. Radiologically, tooth-like radiopaque lesion with central radiolucency was observed in computed tomography. Surgical excision is thought to be the best treatment option. 4-year old girl was referred to the otolaryngology clinic with 4months lasting rhinorrhea. Clinical examination showed 5mm sized hyperemic mass in the right nasal cavity floor. At the paranasal sinus computed tomography, 7mm X 12mm sized soft tissue density lesion with inner high density material was shown in the right nasal cavity floor. Surgical removal was performed under general anesthesia. It was confirmed as ectopic tooth with myxoid stroma in the pathologic exam.
